I tend to get my hand in too many activities mostly because I really enjoy doing them all.

There are an infinite number of activities out there that you could really enjoy. At some point you have to decide how many you want to take on. This number will always be much less than the total number you could take on. The question is how much less...

It is true that it's a liberating idea to live life for the sake of living it, but not all of us 'overachieving' types are doing it to impress someone. I tend to get my hand in too many activities mostly because I really enjoy doing them all. Also, my ten year plan is designed, not for others to see my organization, but as a strategy to get me the things I want. Just wanted to put it out there that there are multiple ways to 'live life to the fullest.'

(Although I do agree that it's good, healthy and refreshing to just step back sometimes.)

I couldn't agree more... taking a moment to stop and concentrate on fewer but more important things is definitely worth any potential trade off. I see people trying to do too much and in the end they might achieve a lot but they're merely a collection of achievements meant to impress others and they don't know who they are or why they bothered to do all of those things. Great post and a good reminder that less is sometimes more.
