It’s hard to believe that we’re less than two months away from the publication of my new book, Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment without Burnout, which comes out on March 5th. As promised by the subtitle, this book describes a groundbreaking new philosophy for pursuing meaningful accomplishment while avoiding overload, based around three principles that will sound familiars to long-time readers of this newsletter: (1) Do Fewer Things; (2) Work at a Natural Pace; (3) Obsess Over Quality.
It’s here that I want to straight-up ask you a favor: If you were thinking of buying the book anyway, would you consider pre-ordering now in advance?
(Pre-order numbers turn out to be really helpful for authors. The major retailers, for example, look at them to determine how seriously to treat a new title. They’re also critical for bestseller list placement.)
To help thank you for helping me, I’ve put together the following collection of bonuses for those who buy Slow Productivity in advance:
Chapter-by-Chapter Audio Commentary [released on publication date]: On March 5th, I’ll be releasing an exclusive chapter-by-chapter audio commentary for Slow Productivity, allowing those who pre-ordered the book to enjoy a behind the scenes look into my thought processes and the insights that shaped my writing of the book, as well as ideas and advice that didn’t make the final edit.
A Slow Productivity Primer [available instantly]: Dive deeper into the slow productivity movement with an annotated collection of my best writing on the topic from the past four years.
A Slow Productivity Crash Course [available instantly]: In this targeted video course I explain the main ideas behind slow productivity, detailing the three main principles of the philosophy, and providing for each a piece of concrete advice you can implement immediately. This crash course will allow you to begin to enjoy the benefits of this approach to work right away while waiting for the book to arrive.
In case you’re still on the fence, here’s what some other people I admire have been saying about the book:
To secure your pre-order bonuses, simply pre-order Slow Productivity, then follow the steps listed at:
Thank you for all of your support over the years. I’m excited for Slow Productivity to come out and am truly hoping it sparks a new conversation about the way we work.
Will pre-ordering an ebook version improve the book’s chances for major distribution or the bestseller lists? I know at one point ebook pre-orders were treated differently.
I will be pre-ordering your book shortly,, but I also have a question. If I want to buy the book as a gift for someone, is there a way to do that plus also allow them access to the bonus content for those who pre-order?
Thanks! I am excited about the book.
Andrea
Yes – there are specific instructions on how to gift a copy to someone so that they get the bonus content. Just follow the directions on the link he provided.
Thanks!
A.
Multiple copies ordered and gifted. I’m looking forward to reading this to set the standard in 2024.
won’t let me pre-order: “temporarily out of stock’.
Based in Israel.
Does preordering in Europe from amazon.de help?
Ordered my copy after reading that “pre-orders” are beneficial in so many ways! I usually take books from the library as space is limited in my home; however, Cal Newport’s books are always a must to keep on my bookshelf!
Can we pre-order from a local independent bookstore and still qualify for the bonuses?
Hello! Is there a release date for the audio version yet?
I’m wondering if I pre-order the audiobook if I would receive it on the same day the physical book is released.
I have listened to your podcast for a couple of months now. I enjoy the structure and professionalism of your podcast. I am working on trying to find the right rhythm as I build my Online Tutoring business.
By the way, I ordered the book but am not seeing the pre-order bundle.
A new book? Werd. I still haven’t cracked “A World Without Email” yet. But it’s waiting on the shelf. I loath email and reading time can be elusive. With the exception of two of the early ones, I’ve read the other books. “Digital Minimalism” seemed timely and it resonated; that book helped me personally get through twenty seventeen. “Deep Work” might be my favorite. All of them good. Totally stoked for this one too.
Hi, I just pre-ordered from the Amazon India web-site. Am I eligible for the pre-order bonus? if so, how do I claim it?
I can’t find the “Steps” for the Pre Order bonus , I followed the link above but after 10mins of digging through pages i’m still lost.
I missed the memo and I’d like the audio commentary. Is this still possible?
Just messaged [email protected]
Did you hear back, Vincent?
The link doesn’t provide any instructions on how to get the pre-order bonuses. Am I missing something?
I’m here because a friend mentioned the book. As a recovering neurodivergent perfectionist, (3) worries me. That’s not something I always successfully pragmatically level-set on. See also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbtflLkVv4E
When can we get a spanish version of the book?
What mountain lodge is on the cover of this book?
